Ticketmaster Intern Spotlight: Marketing Intern Casandra Macias

We spoke to third-year intern, Casandra Macias, a student at California State University of Northridge, about her experience as a returning Ticketmaster Marketing Intern in Hollywood:

What influenced your decision to join Ticketmaster as an intern? 
Music was my driving motivator in choosing to join Ticketmaster; however, it was the workplace environment, people and ideas that encouraged me to return year after year. I’ve been given the opportunity to work on different teams to gain a host of perspectives under different leaders. Working under such strong leaders has set the bar high for what I look for in a team.
What excites you most about interning at Ticketmaster? 
The most exciting thing about Ticketmaster is the environment and employees. There isn’t a delineation between roles in the office – meaning, everyone is treated as an equal and ideas are being heard by everyone regardless of the title held by the employee, especially as an intern.

About our work culture?
As for the work culture – my teams have been extremely helpful, knowledgeable, open  and fun. Everyone has similar interests and goals which is great because it leaves me feeling satisfied day in and day out. It’s great to work for a company that emphasizes diversity and belonging as well because it makes me feel comfortable, confident and valued which bleeds into the work I produce and the attitude I bring into the workplace.

How big of a role does a company’s commitment to developing and growing emerging talent play in your career decision making?
I believe a company’s commitment to developing and growing emerging talent plays a major role in the way I prospect because it shows me that opportunity is everywhere. Especially in a big company such as Ticketmaster. The Talent Acquisitions team does a great job at setting up intern events, such as the Speaker Sessions and Hackathon, that open up opportunities to meet a ton of people in different areas of study.  Ticketmaster and the employees definitely make interns feel welcomed and valued.

What advice do you have for anyone who wants to join Ticketmaster as an intern?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. It’s the ultimate way to learn and show your dedication. I would also encourage all interns to set up at least one informational meeting with someone in the company because it opens up more doors to new contacts that can help in one way or another.

What steps did you take to create these opportunities for yourself at Ticketmaster? How did networking and staying connected help you?
I attended all of the Speaker Sessions and intern events which gave me insights into the different project’s teams were working on. Thereafter, I would set up informational meetings and express an interest in a particular area which helped build my connections. It also helps that everyone is super friendly at Ticketmaster, so setting up a coffee date or informational meeting is fairly easy.

Which live event are you most excited to attend next?
I am excited for the Life is Beautiful festival in September. I’m looking forward to seeing Chance the Rapper, Billie Ellish and Post Malone!
