A Letter from Tim Martin, SVP & GM, College Athletics

On behalf of everyone at Ticketmaster, allow me to wish you and your family a very happy holiday season. After spending 6 years at University of Southern California, I am well aware that for many of you this is an extremely busy time of year. Likewise, we at Ticketmaster are working as hard as we can to support every one of your current and upcoming initiatives.

In my 7 months as SVP of college athletics, I’ve been blown away and humbled by the incredible passion and work ethic that everyone at Ticketmaster exhibits. It is awe-inspiring to witness this dedication and commitment to excellence, as we continually strive to provide you and your fans with best-in-class products, solutions, and customer service.

A Look Ahead

As we head into 2019, I want to take the opportunity to share some personal thoughts on the changing landscape in college athletics specific to ticketing and fundraising.

Selling Tickets and Finding and Retaining Donors

I speak from experience here: Selling single game tickets and season tickets, as well as finding and retaining donors, is harder today than it was just 5 years ago.

Event attendance and TV ratings seem to be a topic of national conversation every day. This was a challenge I faced every single day at University of Southern California and one of the reasons I chose to work for Ticketmaster.

It is my firm belief that we at Ticketmaster are uniquely positioned to help our clients fight this trend. With unrivaled reach and distribution, we have a unique ability to help universities reach new fans, identify potential new season ticket holders and donors, and add new names to databases.

In order to develop and maintain a sustainable economic business model, athletic departments must reach outside of their own database, and that is where Ticketmaster really can make a difference.

Ticketmaster’s Conference Plans for Summer 2019

Our college partners will see two different Ticketmaster hosted conferences in the summer of 2019. The conferences serve two distinct and important tracks, and the content will be targeted toward separate audiences and initiatives.

  1. The Collegiate Ticketing Conference, slated for the campus of Ohio State in Columbus during the week of July 8 will remain a user-group focused heavily in the weeds of our Ticket Ops and Sales folks who live and breathe in our Archtics suite of products every day.
  2. The Ticketmaster Summit returns to Los Angeles in late June and will follow a similar path as it did in 2017 with a broader focus on industry trends.

For those able, I highly recommend joining both, but it is my sincere hope that the variety of content allows for Ticketmaster exposure to a wider cross-section of your Athletic Department.
