The Cure Bowl — More Than a Game

The Orlando Sports Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for organizations working to find a cure for cancer. The foundation hosts many fundraising events throughout the year, but its signature event is the Cure Bowl, an NCAA college football bowl game played each December at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, FL.

Since the Cure Bowl’s inception in 2015, the foundation and its stakeholders have raised $3.88 million for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation — funding national and international research, the UCF College of Medicine Cancer Research Center and local Central Florida programs.

The Orlando Sports Foundation’s mission is to bring teams together to find a cure for cancer, and through the platform of the Cure Bowl, it has been able to do more than that. The Cure Bowl’s Community Giveback Program allows non-profit organizations to raise funds for their cause by selling tickets to the game. Each organization is provided a custom event link to promote the game to its supporters. Following the game’s conclusion, the Orlando Sports Foundation presents the non-profit with a check for 50% of the ticket sales generated through their custom link.

Festivities at the Cure Bowl aren’t just on the field. Prior to the event, the Cure Bowl hosts a Fan Fest and the March 2Cure parade to honor cancer thrivers. The pregame activities are full of bands, mascots, ceremonies and more, fueling the energy and excitement surrounding the game.

As the Orlando Sports Foundation prepares for the 2022 edition of the Cure Bowl, one thing is certain — it is more than just a game. It’s an opportunity to uplift and unite a community for a common cause.
